IT IS OFFICIALLY SUMMER! If you haven’t already started, now is a good time to start prepping your home and garden for warmer weather. Also, this is a good time to start prepping your kitchen to make the most of your summer!

Stock up on Summer necessities
Things like bug spray, extra (cheap) sunglasses for excursions, and sunscreen should be stocked up and in an easy place to remember! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on a drive somewhere and had to stop at a store to pick up one of these items because I can’t find it at home.
Reorganize your kitchen
With the changing season, you may find yourself using different appliances. If there are small appliances you use more in the warmer months (a blender for smoothies, perhaps, or an ice cream maker), it may be a good idea to bring them to the front of your cupboards or create a station on the counter for easy accessibility.
Enjoy gardening
It doesn’t matter if you have a giant yard or a tiny apartment porch, gardening can be done at any level. Tomatoes are extremely easy to grow in most situations! This is my personal back porch. I don’t have much space, but I am growing different breeds of tomatoes and jalapenos, mainly as an excuse for me to enjoy my porch a bit more! If you prefer indoor gardening, now is the time to propagate! If you go back to the first image in this blog, you’ll see my freshly cut Fiddle Leaf Fig branches that I am propagating! Never ignore an excuse to enjoy greenery in your home during summer.
Lighten up decor
Roll up those heavy rugs and those thick sheets! Replace with lighter colors and fabrics to keep yourself cool and your mood happy! As great as sheer white curtains look in summer, blowing in the breeze, if you live in hotter climates, it may be best to keep black out curtains up through these months as it will keep your home cooler during the day. Early evening, open them up and enjoy the sunset!
Catch up on put-off projects
It is easy to forget projects when life is so busy! With longer days, take advantage of the extra sunlight by working on what you’ve put off! This includes personal/fun projects, and the less desirable honey-do’s.
Check your property for standing water
Summer means enjoying your time outside! Make sure to check around your property for still water. Even a saucer of water can become a mosquito nursery, so leave no pot un-turned!

Refresh your bathroom
Your cabinets looking beat up? Shower curtain’s and liner looking a little dingy? Bath towels seen better days? Give your bathroom a mini spa makeover by Refacing your bathroom cabinets, swapping out your tired old bath linens for fresh, fluffy new towels and a new shower curtains!
Make your summer must-do list
Beach road trip, BBQ parties, berry farms — There is so much to do in these Summer months! Even though Summer feels long, don’t be fooled. Next thing you know, it’ll be Fall again. Be sure you are making the most of your season. Create a a personal must-do list and keep it somewhere visible like a big chalkboard or family bulletin board.
