Elements of a Classic Kitchen

Many people get stuck when trying to define their style on their home. The hardest part about trying to stamp a home is creating an elegant space without messing it up.  Classic homes are a safe and timeless option, which also gives the ability to spice it up with accessories and decoration.

White or cream cabinetry is a great base for any classic kitchen, as it is almost a blank slate. This lets the architectural details do all the work for the home. Picking bold details without going over the top, such as crown molding, bold light fixtures, corbels, and island legs are details that create a classy, rich looking kitchen without being too ‘over the top’.

White marble or granite counter tops are a clean option to keep the simplicity of the kitchen going, and not contrasting too much with conflicting styles.

Always stick with neutral color pallets and let the accessories (hand towels, vases, fruit, plants etc) be the pop of color needed to stylize and keep it looking like a show kitchen.

Even though white is the most common color for a classic kitchen, sometimes alternative pallets find their way into this kitchen style. Browns and Walnut wood are beautiful alternatives if white isn’t the homeowners cup of tea.

The best thing about a classic kitchen is the flexibility! It can be more traditional when mixing it with a traditional chandelier, an ornate hood or some island legs, or it can go more modern with shaker style doors and more modern hardware and light fixtures.

The possibilities are endless with classic kitchens and a great start for any beginner kitchen remodel.
