What is the best way to go about picking out your perfect backsplash - countertop combo?

With all the options out there, you’ll find yourself asking a lot of questions. ‘Which do I pick first?”, “What colors go together?”, “Is it okay to mix patterns?”. It may all seem overwhelming, and there is no right or wrong answer, but here are a few ways to help you make your decision.

The easiest first step is to just “pick one” to start out with. I prefer picking out the countertops first, as they are the bigger of the two pieces. Choosing a stone and pattern that fits your tastes and color design is a good first step.

Once you’ve done your research on the type of stone that best fits your needs, next, is finding a backsplash to accent well. There are many options here. The easiest option is to just use the same material as a backsplash as well. This doesn’t work well with every stone pattern, but it does work well with a more simple, marble-like pattern. If your countertops are neutral, you can have fun with almost any type of backsplash on the market. From fun colors, to more traditional styles, the possibilities are endless.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t mix colors. However, if both of your materials feature multiple hues and have different patterns, try to stick to one main color palette for each material. This will keep it looking more uniform, without the two materials clashing.

Last but not least, if you still aren’t sure, there is no shame in hiring an expert and getting a consultant. Cabinet Cures has many professionals who are more than happy to help you on your kitchen remodeling/redesigning journey.
