Last week we gave a quick summary of the Houzz 2018 Kitchen Trend Study and the results were very interesting! The study focused on design trends, layouts and storage solutions. The answers give us a little preview of what is upcoming in popularity for kitchens in the U.S. Within the design portion, the study asked about the colors and finishes people are choosing for their kitchen remodels.

Countertops
As this graph shows, the most popular feature to upgrade in a renovated kitchen was the countertop. There is a reason for this! If someone was able to reface their cabinets, or keep their current cabinets in good shape, there would be no real reason to replace them. Countertops are one of the biggest focal points in a kitchen so it makes perfect sense.
Sink/Faucet
This is a very big one, for completely different reasons. Unless your faucet is leaking or damaged, there is no real reason to replace it. However, there are some really neat faucets out there. With how quickly technology advances, it is no wonder why people want to upgrade for the motion activated or touch faucets.
Cabinet Door Styles
Looks like much hasn’t changed for 2018. The ever popular shaker cabinets are still holding reign while raised panel actually lost a few percentage points. Raised panel was very popular in the 90’s and 2000’s so it isn’t too surprising that people are opting for a more modern style.
Cabinet Color
White being the popular cabinet color of choice is no surprise either. If you go as simple as searching “Kitchen” in Pinterest, you’ll find that the majority of the pictures are going to be bright white kitchens. While this isn’t the always the case, as every cabinet color is beautiful, but with social media, it makes it very easy to predict trends.
